Sebaceous gland hyperplasia represents a physiologic phenomenon of the newborn manifested by multiple, yellow to flesh-colored tiny greasy-looking papules that occur on the nose, cheeks, and upper lips of full term infants. These papules, a manifestation of maternal androgen stimulation, represent a temporary disorder that resolves spontaneously within the first few weeks of life.
